Angela is of counsel at Dalton Clark Law Group, LLC. She is available to consult on domestic violence and family court cases and provides mediation and arbitration services in family law matters.
Angela White Dalton, JSC (ret.) has been a licensed NJ attorney for over 29 years. In 2013, Judge Dalton was nominated by the governor and became an NJ Superior Court Judge. Judge Dalton spent her entire judicial career in Family Court, handling a range of divorce, custody, and domestic relations matters, and touching the lives of thousands of people.
Judge Dalton handled myriad cases, from the very complicated, requiring multiple economic or forensic experts, to straightforward negotiated
agreements where two people worked out their differences amicably. No matter what the concerns, each of these cases was personal to the litigants, and Judge Dalton always kept that at the forefront of her work. Judge Dalton fully understood that her work involved real people with real problems, and she was always aware of her responsibility to help each family by making tough decisions.
During her time on the bench, Judge Dalton taught many courses to lawyers, judges and the public. Judge Dalton has lectured on topics including alimony, child support, equitable distribution, college contribution, business valuation, trial techniques, domestic violence, child interviews, relocations and even custody issues involving the family pet.
Judge Dalton was a member of the Supreme Court Family Practice Rules Committee for almost 10 years; the Child Support and Domestic Violence Subcommittees; The Statewide Domestic Violence Working Group; Chair of the Monmouth Vicinage Domestic Violence Working Group; the NJ Judiciary Family Division Presiding Judges and Managers FV/FO Committee; and numerous other positions.
Judge Dalton served as a mentor judge to other new judges, and she even spent a whole year on the bench in Newark presiding over some of the most difficult divorce and domestic relations matters throughout Essex County before she returned to Monmouth County in 2014.
From 2019-2024, Judge Dalton served as an officer of the New Jersey chapter of the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges (NJ-NCJFCJ), completing a 2-year term as president in January 2024.
Judge Dalton is an active member of the NJ State Bar Association Family Law Section, a member of the NJ Association of Professional Mediators, and a member of the Monmouth Bar Association.
Judge Dalton is a wife, mother and grandmother. She chose to leave the bench early and work with her daughter Amanda Dalton Clark, so that together their family could make an impact for other families and the greater community.
She is available to help individuals and their lawyers navigate a resolution quickly and efficiently, so that they do not have to spend several months (or even years) in the court system. If parties are uncomfortable or need to avoid court, then Judge Dalton can serve as a private arbitrator, shielding the confidential details of a family's financial and social issues from the public forum while making the same decisions she once did while on the bench. She is also available to consult on domestic violence matters and can serve as a discovery arbiter or a parenting coordinator in higher conflict cases.
